Ultrasonic flowmeter ideal for Coors Brewers
Coors Brewers, with over 20% of the UK market, wanted a reliable, robust and accurate method of monitoring flow in their brewing, cleaning and energy processes, so turned to Katronic
Ultrasonic Flowmeter Offers "Ideal Tool" for UK's Leading Brewer When Coors Brewers, the UK's leading brewer with over 20% of the market, were looking for a reliable, robust and accurate method for monitoring the performance of their brewing, cleaning and energy processes they turned to Katronic Technologies of Leamington Spa to supply the answer.
For a long time the engineers at Coors Brewers at Burton-On-Trent had realised that they had no method of verification of their existing in-line flowmeters, or for measuring pipelines where flow metering was absent.
This was of particular importance on the CIP entries and on the water supply pipes where the system had been in operation for a long time.
The solution came in the form of the latest portable ultrasonic flowmeter from Katronic Technologies.
The very nature of having a portable flowmeter meant that it was possible to carry out a complete survey of the various pipelines in the production process, and as all the measurements were taken non-invasively it ensured that there was no need to interrupt production or risk contaminating the flowing liquid to do it.
Furthermore, the easy programming and simple sensor mounting meant that several pipelines could be measured in a very short period of time.
As Technical Support Manager at the Burton site Chris Deakin explains, "I was drawn to the Katronic flowmeter because of the high specification of the unit, the ease of use and the excellent build-quality of both the sensors and the electronic transmitter".
Furthermore, since taking possession of the meter and putting it into use he described himself as "impressed with the comparative accuracy of the meter against trusted existing flowmeters".
The flowmeter at Coors Brewers is not only used for monitoring the flow of Coors most popular brands such as Carling and Worthington, it is also used on several other applications throughout the plant, such as: Verification and improvement of CIP network: Verification of existing meters: Measurement of effluent flows; Measurement of hot and cold water systems.
Chris Deakin went on to say that he and his colleagues were "extremely happy" with the performance of the meter, its robustness and ease of use, describing the meter as "the ideal tool for brewery use".
The ADM 6725 portable clamp-on flowmeter can be used for the measurement of liquids in pipes from 10mm - 6m regardless of pipe material.
The flowmeter has in internal data-logger for the storage of up to 30,000 values and is supplied with software for the analysis and printing of the measurement data.
The flowmeter can be supplied with a variety of options including sensors for wall thickness measurement, temperature and speed of sound measurement.
