flowmeters

The new KATflow 110 from Katronic Technologies finally provides engineers in the water industry with a viable alternative to the widely accepted electro-magnetic flowmeter Clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeters are not new, however it has taken a number of years for the technology and the price to reach a point where they could start to be considered as a standard instrument in the water industry

The KF110 successfully matches performance and price in order to offer a cost-effective measurement solution that could be considered for either retro-fitting applications where non-invasive flowmeters are often installed, or new builds where a designer or engineer would traditionally look at utilising an electro-magnetic flow meter.

To give an example of this, recent figures have shown that when choosing a flowmeter for a 150mm diameter pipe the KATflow 110 can be up to 70% cheaper than an equivalent electro- magnetic flowmeter for the same application.

The reason behind this cost saving is the competitive price of the new KF110 and also the additional costs incurred when fitting an in-line flowmeter.

When investigating an application it is important to consider more than the purchase price of the flow meter but also the cost of the time and manpower needed to install and commission the instrument: it is here that the ultrasonic flowmeters excel.

The Katronic flowmeters can be supplied pre-programmed to the operator requirements and installed in less than one hour.

Furthermore, as the KATflow 110 is non-invasive there is no risk of blockage, pressure drop or loss of calibration.

Maintainance of the clamp on flowmeter is minimal and an occasional visual inspection of the transmitter and sensors is all that is required.

In spite of the fact that the KATflow 110 has only been available a short period of time it has already found success in a number of applications.

Examples of installations of the new flowmeter include instruments for Scottish Water on 550 mm and 850 mm diameter pipes, chemical effluent metering for Waterford Crystal, and a complete HVAC metering package for IBM at one of their UK facilities.

The meter has proved popular owing to its ease of operation and installation, its compact size, its robustness and the fact that most customer applications can be covered with one standard instrument.

The flowmeter and sensors can be applied to pipelines of all materials from 10 mm to 2,500 mm, with the range of measurable liquids including clean water, effluent, chemicals and sewage. Request a free brochure from Katronic Technologies ...
