A new three piece swing check valve
A three piece swing check valve designed to complement three piece ball valves is used on chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical process lines as well as gas, oil and water service lines
The K44 "Checktite" three piece swing check valve has been designed to complement three piece ball valves and is used on chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical process lines as well as gas, oil and water service lines It is used wherever unwanted flow reversal has to be prevented

2005 marks the 25th year of K44 production.
Available in 316 stainless steel or carbon steel with stainless internals, in sizes from 0.25'' (8mm) to 2'' (50 mm), the K44 "Checktite" employs a three piece body and end design secured by four bolts (as widely used with ball valves).
This design facilitates quick and simple installation and enables the valve body to be swung away from the line for easy inspection, cleaning or maintenance.

EEx valve position monitors for minus 50C
K Controls has extended the range of valve position position monitoring solutions to include EExd, EExed and EExi versions that are ATEX certified for ambient temperatures as low as -50 degrees C
This is done by removing three bolts and loosening the fourth.
The seat /clack insert assembly can then be readily accessed.
The K44 swinging clack rides in a reduced port flow stream to prevent 'hunting' and corresponding high pressure drops.
A bubble-tight shut off can be achieved with a PTFE seat at 6.9 bar and a Viton or EPDM seat at 0.7 bar.
When PTFE is selected the seat is swaged in and allowed to recover prior to machining in order to optimise sealing performance.
A metal to metal seat is also available where soft sealing materials are not acceptable.
A light clack spring is fitted for vertical installations or critical water hammer conditions.
End connections are butt weld schedule 10 or 40, socket weld schedule 40 or BSPP/BSPT/NPT screwed.
Special butt weld ends can be manufactured on request.
Nitrile body seals are included for welding and these are discarded and replaced with PTFE, Viton or EPDM body seals prior to the valve entering service.
The three-piece construction enables user specifications to be normally achieved on a 3 to 4 week ex works delivery and stocks are held by distributors in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and Australia.
For the pharmaceutical industry the product is available with the option of FDA approved PTFE seats and seals, and or chemically polished internals.
BS EN 10204 3.1b certification can be requested at the time of order.
In all sizes from DN8 to DN50 the cracking pressure of the K44 'Checktite' valve is extremely low.
When mounted in the vertical position it is nominally 7 mbar.
In the horizontal position this falls away to less than 4 mbar.
When the return spring is fitted these figures increase by approximately 20 mbar.
In summary the straight through flow, low opening pressure, wide choice of end connections and ease of servicing has made the K44 "Checktite" the natural choice for many process engineers during the last 25 years.
