Finnish welding equipment manufacturer Kemppi, whose UK company Kemppi UK is based in Bedford, has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Etihad Aldar Spyker F1 Team for the 2007 season.
The sponsorship agreement will see the Kemppi brand logo carried on the distinctive orange and tungsten F8-V11 cars in the racing team, on the team website, supporting vehicles and printed materials.
Kemppi is also supplying 4 of its latest Mastertig MLS 2300 AC/DC, digitally controlled single phase 230V inverter power sources for both MMA and TIG AC and DC welding, to be used by their racing and test teams at Grand Prix circuits around the World, as well as their R+D and fabrication workshops in Silverstone, UK.
John Frost said: "The distinctive colours of the Etihad Aldar Spyker team tie in perfectly with our own orange and black branding: and our growth as a global supplier to the welding industry demands consistent, imaginative management of our brand.
F1 racing globally touches all our markets providing us with a perfect vehicle to promote orange welding power! Kemppi is at the forefront of welding technology and Mastertig MLS 2300 AC/DC is a very good example, it is very compact and powerful, weighs approximately 15kg and offers a high power to weight ratio, all made possible by the very latest design technology in its electronic and electromechanical systems, all factors that are closely associated with the high technology found within a F1 racing team.
This excellent sponsorship agreement enables us to continue our long association with F1 and we are very pleased to be associated with the Etihad Aldar Spyker team and to be able to supply not only our equipment, but technical welding expertise and service support".

The single phase MasterTig MLS 2300 AC/DC, with a slow 16A fuse, is rated 230A at a 40% duty cycle and 170A at 100% duty cycle, giving it enough power to weld 5mm aluminium, where normally a 3 phase machine is required.
It is designed for high quality aluminium welding and can be used both from a mains supply or a generator, making it useful for installation and repair work both on-site and in fabrication shops.
The balance and frequency controls can be used to optimise root penetration, de-oxidation as well as the shape of the arc.
The balance control device with its memory pre-set or manual values, allows control of the negative half cycle allowing the operator to increase the power input to the welded component enabling deeper penetration.
The choice of two alternative control panels (ACS and ACX), allow the user to select the control panel level to suit the job and budget, allowing easy welding parameter adjustments.
When using water cooled torches, the Kemppi MasterCool 20 can easily be stored under the power source.
