New carbon arc gouging equipment launched

A Kemppi (UK) product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Dec 3, 2007

Welding equipment manufacturer Kemppi has launched KempGouge ARC800, a new lightweight, mobile, heavy duty air carbon arc gouging power source

The ARC800 is a 400V 3-phase 50/60Hz machine with a rated input power of 44kVA at 50% duty cycle and a rated load capacity of 800A/44V at 50% duty cycle at 40C.using a gouging carbon up to maximum 13mm diameter.

The current adjustment range is 20 - 800A and the recommended compressed air pressure is 500 - 700kPa (5 - 7bar).

The control panel allows the user to easily control and monitor the equipment, with the current and voltage values being clearly shown.

The required gouging current is set in adjustments of 10A.

This new equipment is designed for all types of carbon arc gouging found in many fabrication and production industries and is suitable for use with the majority of metals, such as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nickel, copper, magnesium and aluminium.

It can be used for numerous applications besides back gouging, using either a round or flat gouging carbon for removing welding defects, preparing grooves, cutting metals, making holes, performing arc grinding of surface defects and weld caps as well as opening casting defects.

The characteristics curve controlling the equipments operating parameters has been designed specifically for carbon arc gouging, so its gouging properties are optimal, whilst operating noise levels are kept to a minimum.

The equipment weighs just 115 kg with its portable trolley and measures 700mm long x 660mmm wide x 1400mm high.
