Modern Metal Finishes, leading specialist in gold plating, enlisted the help of Kerry Ultrasonics to secure a major contract with one of the world's most respected manufacturers of plumbing products

Modern Metal Finishes (MMF), leading specialist in gold plating, has enlisted the help of Kerry Ultrasonics in order to secure a major contract with one of the world's most respected manufacturers of advanced plumbing products Kerry has supplied MMF with a Sonopush 2000-25 transducer to facilitate removal of polishing compounds from brass bathroom fittings, prior to them undergoing plating

Installed as part of an existing automatic process, the transducer has led to an improvement in both cleaning quality and productivity.

Components are first pre-soaked in an alkaline solution to remove any grease or oil, before entering the ultrasonic bath which contains a mixture of detergents and rinse agents.

Immersion in an electro cleaner then precedes the plating stage, and the fittings are air-knifed dry.

Although throughput varies, the MMF manual ultrasonic bath would have been unable to cope with the volume of components requiring cleaning.

Kerry was able to secure the order through an on-site demonstration of the Sonopush efficiency: the 2000W, 25kHz probe takes just twenty minutes to leave fittings free from all contaminants.
