A new Kistler pressure sensor measures absolute pressure in engine applications, in particular intake and exhaust pressures, where high accuracy and small dimensions are a necessity

The new Kistler Type 4005 M5-size piezoresistive pressure sensor has been developed for measuring absolute pressure in engine applications, in particular for measuring the intake and exhaust pressures where high accuracy and small dimensions are a necessity.

The sensor uses DCE technology (Direct Chip Exposure) where the measuring element is exposed directly to the medium.

A perforated shield provides mechanical protection and a protective coating enables the sensor to withstand direct exposure to fuel and oil vapour.

The M5 size allows maximum mounting flexibility allowing the sensor to be positioned for optimum measuring accuracy.

Although initially designed for applications in internal combustion engines, the superb linearity, low hysteresis and high natural frequency make the new sensor ideal for many applications where precision and small size are required.

The sensor is also available with PiezoSmart automatic sensor identification, which simplifies installation and ensures that operator errors during set-up are eradicated.
