Miniature pressure sensor has fast response

A Kistler Instruments product story

The new Type 6189A combined miniature pressure and temperature sensor has thermocouple leads threaded through the pressure measuring element to provide exceptionally fast temperature response

The new Type 6189A combined pressure and temperature sensor has a front diameter of 4mm with the thermocouple leads threaded through the pressure measuring element to provide exceptionally fast response to temperature changes.

This technique, first used in the Kistler 2.5mm combined sensor, simplifies the monitoring of both temperature and pressure in small moulds during the injection cycle.

Improvements in the design of the pressure-sensing element have increased sensitivity to 9 pC/bar, similar to the standard pressure only sensor.

The new sensor uses the Kistler single wire technology connection system to simplify installation as the cable can be shortened or replaced easily on site.

Measurement of the contact temperature, in addition to the cavity pressure, yields valuable process information for optimising and monitoring the injection process.

The Kistler family of sensors for combined pressure and temperature acquisition measures both process variables at the same point.

With the thermocouple located at the very front of the sensor, the melt temperature is measured directly for maximum accuracy and response speed.
