Krohne updates the Optimass 7300 flowmeter
Krohne has brought out a tantalum version of its Optimass 7300 straight tube Coriolis mass flowmeter, which is suitable for the chemical industry and measuring aggressive or corrosive fluids.
It features a no-hassle installation and superior performance in density and mass flow.
The tantalum Optimass 7300's design makes it suitable for measuring fluids that require glass-lined piping or glass-lined process vessels.
Tantalum has a similar chemical resistance to glass and is typically used with chemicals such as hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric and phosphoric acids, or bromine and chlorine.
The tantalum used by Krohne is an alloy called tantalum Ta10W, which is comprised of 10 per cent tungsten and 90 per cent tantalum.
Tungsten provides the additional tensile strength required to handle the stresses associated with straight tube technology, making the alloy a perfect fit for the Optimass 7300.
The corrosion-resistant tantalum Optimass 7300's tantalum wetted-flange construction allows it to withstand harsh conditions.
The single straight-tube design is resistant to blocking or fouling, allowing the meter to handle high viscosity fluids with ease and measure accurately, even in the presence of entrained air.
The Optimass 7300 features Krohne's adaptive sensor technology (AST), allowing it to tune itself, independent of external forces and fluid density, to produce a balanced meter in demanding processes.
It delivers accurate metering for a range of flow rates in seven different full-bore tube diameters (1/4, 3/8, 1/2, one, one and a half, two and three inch).
