A high-capacity roll press briquetter from KRKomarek produces briquets of ores, oxides, chemicals, plastics, solid fuels, minerals and a variety of waste or scrap materials, for easier handling

Komarek high-capacity briquetter forms larger briquets, up to 50 tph; A high-capacity roll press briquetter from KRKomarek produces briquets sized from 3" x 2" x 1-1/4" (76 x 51 x 32 mm) up to 6" x 5" x 3" (152 x 127 x 76 mm), at throughputs ranging from 30 to 50 tons per hour Model DH500 is intended to unitise large volumes of loose, granular material such as ores, oxides, chemicals, plastics, solid fuels, minerals and a variety of waste or scrap materials, for easier handling, reclamation or disposal

Model DH500 offers roll sizes from 28" to 54" (71 to 137 cm) in diameter, for optimal productivity depending on briquet size and density.

Symmetrical roll mounting -- in which each roll is suspended between two bearing blocks -- permits wider roll faces for the highest possible number of cavities and unit production capacity.

This type of mounting also lets the rolls skew to maintain more uniform pressure across the roll face for more uniform briquet densities, and lends itself better to briquetting hot materials.

The Komarek design also features external setting of roll shaft alignment, allowing easy adjustment without use of shims and time-consuming disassembly.

Rolls on the DH500 are horizontally paired and fed from above, using either gravity feed or a motor-driven screw feeder.

Both rolls are indexed so the half-briquet cavities (pockets) cut into the circumference of each roll will match up as the rolls turn, forming whole cavities as they pass through the roll centreline.

Loose material fills the cavities just prior to closure, and pressure applied as the cavities pass through centreline compresses the materials into a solid mass.

As each cavity passes beyond roll centreline, its two halves naturally move apart, allowing the formed briquet to drop out and discharge from the machine.

Model DH500 employs two 12" (30.5 cm) hydraulic cylinders to apply roll separating forces of 330 tons, with pressure maintained by a nitrogen-filled accumulator.

The accumulator accepts hydraulic fluid displaced from the cylinders during the compaction process, absorbing and giving back energy like a spring, always matching the slope of the force-displacement curve of the moveable rolls to the requirements of the briquetting process.

This closed hydraulic system assures that the rolls will remain under virtually constant pressure when separating under briquetting load, and allows easy control of roll separating force by adjusting the hydraulic pressure.
