New Krohne universal 3-beam ultrasonic flowmeter
Krohne has launched the UFM 3030, a universal 3-beam ultrasonic flowmeter for the chemical, petrochemical, water and waste water industries offering outstanding performance at a competitive price
The UFM 3030 units have been installed as part of an instrumentation upgrade to the company's PTFE production plant.
The water flowmeters provide data to a newly installed Distributed Control System (DCS).
The ultra-pure water is produced on the plant and undergoes several processes to provide the highest quality of water, required for the manufacture of PTFE.
Accurate control of the amount of water used during manufacture is critical for production quality.
As PTFE is a high value material, waste and rework can substantially increase the cost of manufacture.
The flowmeters ensure that the correct amount of water is charged to the process and that there has been no under or over-charging.
The UFM 3030 units replaced obsolete vortex flow meters that could not deliver the level of accuracy now required, and whose signals were not directly compatible with the new DCS.
"Krohne is an Asahi Glass Fluoropolymers UK preferred supplier of flowmeters and we already have a number of the Krohne instruments on site," said Peter Tipping, project manager at AG Fluoropolymers: "Product quality and control of production costs are essential to helping us remain competitive.
The accuracy of the Krohne flowmeters is a key component in helping us to do this".
The UFM 3030 is a three beam ultrasonic flowmeter incorporating a patented transducer design.
It is ideally suited for use in industrial chemical applications.
