Before winning the new contract, Thomas Hardy Kendal used an electromagnetic flowmeter to measure various ingredients used to make drinks.
However, the new product range uses a de-ionised sweetener ingredient which it found could not be measured using this technology.
The company needed to rapidly find a way of measuring the de-ionised sweetener, as well as numerous other ingredients that vary in viscosity and temperature, to ensure it could manufacture the products.

Krohne was able to provide a solution for Thomas Hardy Kendal.
By measuring mass flow, its Optimass flowmeter is capable of accurately measuring de-ionised materials as well as the other ingredients used.
The Optimass 1000 is installed on a 2 inch diameter pipe which feeds ingredients held in holding tanks into a mixing vessel.
These can include fruit juice, wine, alcohol, sugar and water - materials which vary in viscosity and temperature.
They are fed separately through the flowmeter at rates of between 3 and 10 litres per second.
The instrument measures the flow rate of each ingredient and outputs a reading to a visual display.
An operator monitors the measurement and shuts off the flow once the right amount has been reached.
"We needed to quickly find a solution to measuring the de-ionised sweetener so that we could start producing products for this new contract," said David Rigg, engineering manager at Thomas Hardy Kendal.
"Krohne was able to solve our problem and deliver and install the Optimass so we could start production".
The Optimass 1000 delivers best-in-class measurement performance, achieving an accuracy of +/- 0.2 per cent of measured value.
The instrument uniquely has a single straight tube appearance but incorporates two close coupled measuring tubes which are pressure rated to 100 bar.
The secondary containment is also rated to 100 bar.
The flowmeter is available in four sizes, S15(1/2inch), S25(1in), S40(1.5in) and S50(2in) with nominal flow rates of 4,800 Kg/h, 20,000 Kg/h, 60,000 Kg/h and 125,000 Kg/h respectively.
Densities of materials can range from 400 to 2,500 Kg/m.
The Optimass 1000 uses Krohne modular electronic converters, which can be fitted across its full range of flowmeters.
This allows instruments to be supplied with a converter to suit their intended application, providing either basic functionality or high-end specification with diagnostics capability.
