High quality co-axial valves for fast response, high pressure, direct acting operation giving absolute reliability in production processes, are currently available from KV Process Controls Not only are they faster in operation than other valve types, such as butterfly, ball or gate valves, but they are also capable of handling a wider range of media

In addition to vacuums, gases and ordinary liquids, they can also be used with viscous, gelatinous, abrasive, contaminated and aggressive media.

They are unaffected by inlet pressure, and the medium being handled continues to flow axially through the open valve without any significant directional changes.

In the closed position, a hollow spool (or control tube) is held against a valve seat.

In the open position, the spool is held away from the seat to allow free passage of the media through the spool and around the valve seat.

The latter is mounted on three supports which may have been designed to offer minimal resistance to media flow.

The flexibility of the valve seat easily accommodates any wear which may occur at the end of the spool due to the passage of contaminated or abrasive media.

Movement of the spool between the open and closed positions can be carried out either electrically (direct acting) or remotely (externally controlled), through the use of pneumatic or hydraulic pressure.

In the case of the direct acting versions, an armature is wound around the spool and an electromagnet is incorporated within the outer casing.

In the externally controlled valve, the spool is designed to operate like a piston in a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder.

Valves can be supplied either normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO).

The valves can also be supplied in a variety of body materials, including aluminium, brass, steel, and stainless steel, and the connections, ranging from 0.25'' to 3'' (3/8'' to 10'' in the case of the externally controlled valves), conform to either standard threaded or flanged specifications.

Seal and seat materials can be specified to suit the media and operating temperature.

Both 2/2 way and 3/2 way versions are available, the latter being especially suitable for the flow diversion applications.

Most of the valves are suitable for use at pressures up to 100 bar, although a wide range of pressures can be handled up to and above 200 bar.

Other pressures and temperatures are available on request.
