Process wash control system for fresh foods

A Key Technology product story

Freshline Machines, a division of Key Technology, introduces a patented process control system that increases line efficiencies and improves product quality, called the Freshline Direct Stream system

Freshline Machines, a division of Key Technology, introduces the patented Freshline Direct Stream system, an integrated multi-stage wash and automatic drying system for fresh-cut processors.

The innovative Freshline Direct Stream system establishes a new level of automation and process control to maximize line efficiencies and produce a higher standard of product quality.

Ideal for processors of fresh-cut products at volumes from 1000 lb per hour to over 20,000 lb per hour, Freshline Direct Stream is modular and suitable for all types of fresh-cut products.

With Freshline Direct Stream, fresh-cut product is metered through the wash/dry system in a totally regulated manner.

Fast streaming ensures product is layered evenly throughout the entire system, providing consistent wash pressure and dryness levels, with no requirement for staging or storage of wet product.

This improves product quality compared with traditional systems, which typically operate with over-filled hoppers and suffer the 'hay-ball effect' of product on transfer and elevating belts.

Floor space and maintenance costs are reduced with the Freshline Direct Stream system, as there are fewer components and moving parts.

The Freshline Automatic Dryer becomes the control centre of the process line, featuring a single point PLC and touchscreen control panel to access information such as water temperatures, line throughput, and water usage.

The system is completely automated, thereby eliminating operator intervention and reducing labour costs.

Freshline Machines designs and manufactures sophisticated, cost-effective food processing systems for the fresh-cut food industry worldwide, which includes pre-prepared, ready-to-eat salads and vegetables, and fresh-cut fruit products for retail and foodservice markets.

Operating since 1989, Freshline Machines has developed a strong position in the fresh-cut market with its solutions-based approach and superior design capabilities.

Freshline flexible processing systems are suitable for a range of different products such as lettuce, spinach and other leafy vegetables as well as onions, carrots, and other select products.

Freshline Machines was acquired by Key Technology in February 2005.
