Deterrent labels reduce returns and lower costs

A Lamerholm Electronics product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jun 18, 2008

With the joint impact of the credit crunch and rising fuel costs, any company that is shipping goods needs to ensure that their consignments reach their customers in prime condition

Not only is this imperative to maintain their position as a company committed to quality and customer care but the resultant return of damaged goods will eat into profits and eventually affect the bottom line.

However, now available from Lamerholm is a range of innovative, yet cost-effective, labels that can save companies time and money by providing a cost-effective damage deterrent when shipping goods.

The ShockWatch labels are self-adhesive, highly visible labels that, when attached to the packaging used to transport objects or artworks, can indicate when a product has been exposed to impact.

The labels use state-of-the-art technology to monitor the conditions and their use helps to reduce transport related damage considerably.

The colour-coded labels are available in five sensitivities from 25G to 100G.

Over 100 million labels have been sold worldwide and a wide range of companies have seen damage reduce by between 50-90%.

Lamerholm also supply TiltWatch, an innovative system that helps to ensure sensitive products are kept in an upright position while being shipped.

With a simple one-step application, the device is automatically armed when the adhesive backing is removed and once applied to the package cannot be reset.

The indicator on the label will activate and change to red if shipments are tilted over 80degrees.

"Compared to the prices of the products that are being shipped and the resulting cost of any damage and its subsequent return, the ShockWatch labels are certainly value for money" concluded Derek Richardson, Sales Director at Lamerholm for the ShockWatch range of damage deterrent labels.
