Following the debut event in 2007, Leipziger Messe has announced that LAB - the trade fair and conference for analysis, bio and laboratory equipment in the UK - will be held from 27-29 October 2009

Held every two years, the LAB Expo is the only platform of its kind in the UK for the European laboratory and analysis sector - and it will take place in 2009 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham At the inaugural 2007 event at ExCeL London, the latest products and services were showcased to the analysis, bio and laboratory equipment industries by 88 exhibitors, including market leaders such as Eppendorf, Lauda, Dr R Wobser, Buchi UK, Sotax Horiba, Lancer, Sympatec, AES, Metrohm, Retsch and Erlab

In 2007 LAB drew 1,300 trade visitors from 22 countries.

The LAB exhibition is aimed at manufacturers and users of analysis equipment from industry, R+D and public bodies.

Analysis, bioscience and laboratory equipment is used in a wide range of applications, including the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, food and tobacco companies, as well as in medicine and environmental engineering.

The exhibition at LAB is accompanied by a conference featuring top-level speakers and presentations on relevant industrial issues.

LAB is organised by Leipziger Messe, with support from Spectaris, the Berlin-based German Industry Association for Optical, Medical and Mechatronical Technologies, and GAMBICA, the Association for Instrumentation, Control, Automation and Laboratory Technology in the UK.

In preparation for the 2009 LAB exhibition, Leipziger Messe will also work with Fabrilabo, the French Association of Laboratory Equipment Manufacturers and Traders.

"GAMBICA and the British laboratory equipment industry are looking forward to the second LAB," comments Tim Collins, Director for the Laboratory Technology Sector, at GAMBICA.

"Its debut in 2007 was welcomed by the industry in the UK with open arms, and there's no doubt in our minds that the coming event will be a clear improvement.

The NEC in Birmingham will make an outstanding venue for LAB, and we shall continue to support organisers Leipziger Messe to stage a first-class trade show and conference".
