Dr Thurat has held a variety of management positions in German technology companies, for example as an Executive Board member at pump manufacturer WILO.
He studied production engineering and business organisation at Aachen University and earned a doctorate in engineering.
He is a German citizen, 58 years old, married, and has a son.
Dr Monika Mattern-Klosson has played a key role in recent years as Leybold Vacuum developed into a progressive industrial company.
For private, family reasons, Monika Mattern-Klosson expressed a desire to step down from the position as President and concentrate instead on the strategic development of Leybold Vacuum in her capacity as a member of the Management Team.
As a Member of the Leybold Management Team and Head of International Business Development, she will continue to take an active part in shaping company strategy and driving development of new business areas.
