Litre Meter ships 30,000th flow meter
Litre Meter, a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of custom flow meters, has shipped its 30,000th flow meter to the blue chip tyre maker Michelin, in North America
This specific type LMH Pelton wheel flowmeter was shipped to Michelin for use in its rubber mixing operation in South Carolina Rubber is mixed to the exact ratio required to make tyres for the automotive industry

Flexible mass flowmeter for 10 different gases
Thermal mass flow regulators and mass flowmeters for gases are now among the standard instruments used in industrial laboratory and production processes: these units measure the mass flow directly
The meter forms part of a spray system that is used to jet hot water onto the rubber mixture to maintain a constant temperature as it passes through the production line.
It precisely measures the amount of water passing through the spray system in order to ensure consistency.
Fred Tienken, mechanical design engineer at Michelin North America, said: "We use Litre Meter flowmeters throughout the rubber mixing process and we are very pleased that we are able to mark as important a milestone as the 30,000th.
It is essential that the water flow rates in our spraying system are kept constant and the Pelton wheel flowmeter enables us to achieve this".
The patented Litre Meter Pelton wheel design was chosen because it has a proven track record of reliability, spanning more than 30 years.
The meter can accurately measure low flows which in the Michelin case means a flow range of between 0.03 and 4.3 litres/minute.
It is designed to operate at a pressure of 5 bar and temperatures of up to 70 Celsius.
Pelton wheel flowmeters have a custom-built 316 stainless steel cover and are supplied with ferrules and connectors that enable the instruments to be connected to the Michelin spraying system.
To commemorate the 30,000th flow meter milestone Litre Meter has presented Michelin North America with a plaque to honour its commitment as a valued Litre Meter customer.
Litre Meter, based in Buckingham UK, was established in 1975 and specialises in the custom design and manufacture of instruments for measuring and controlling fluids.
Litre Meter has pioneered the development of the Pelton wheel flowmeter, an accurate and versatile technology that has since been used across many industries to measure a variety of low viscosity materials at both low and high flow rates.
