Novel texture analyser for food industry
Food companies test elements such as texture, hardness, crumbliness, shelf life and more to match the consumers' expectations of quality: a new low cost texture analyser is launched to achieve this
Today, food processing companies test a variety of elements such as texture, hardness, crumbliness, shelf life and more to match the consumers' expectations of product quality at the point of purchase Now, a new texture analyser has been launched that drives down the costs of quality testing in food manufacturing without compromising on performance

Software tips help create testing expertise
Materials testing specialists Lloyd Instruments has produced some useful operator notes on ways to get the most out of its new Nexygen MT materials testing control software
The TAPlus from Lloyd Instruments is a low cost, low force, high performance testing machine that is easy to use for both routine and sophisticated texture analysis and more.
The competitive nature of the food market means that manufacturers are constantly striving for ways to reduce costs, yet maintain the quality of products through their production lines.
The TAPlus bridges that gap, allowing companies to check food items right the way from raw materials to finished items.
Unlike competitor models, the TAPlus features a large work space to accommodate large sized samples and accepts XLC Series loadcells that are easy to connect.
The 102 Kg force capacity is aimed squarely at texture profile analysis and a +/-0.5% reading accuracy and speed accuracy less than 0.2% guarantees reliable results.
The standard system includes the base machine, a drip tray, food testing base and probe for routine entry-level applications.
Functionality is extended further still through the company's new powerful Nexygen MT v4.5 control data analysis software that includes a wide range of international food standard test set-ups, powerful security and audit trails for full tracking without loss of any data, video capture and playback for visual flexibility and more.
The Texture Profile Analysis set-up is designed to measure the hardness, cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess, chewiness, fracture force, adhesive force, adhesiveness and springiness index of a food sample.
Typical tests include fatigue cyclic testing, four-point gel tests, bloom, break load, modulus and work done to break, single hardness tests, single stickiness tests, snap strength test, stress relaxation tests.
Furthermore, a wide range of food texture probes, jigs and attachments, as well as multi-purpose grips (for testing food packaging and other applications) are available to meet the wide range of applications in the food industry. Request a free brochure from Lloyd Instruments ...
