Wastewater mixers made by Landia have helped solve a serious odour problem for a major cheese manufacturer in Devon, with a specially designed Landia mixer preventing sedimentation in a balance tank

Wastewater mixers made by Landia have helped solve a serious odour problem for a major cheese manufacturer in Devon.

Utilising its wastewater for irrigation purposes, the cheese-producing company has had to address concerns raised by the Environment Agency regarding bad odours affecting the local neighbourhood.

As part of a dissolved air flotation system designed and manufactured by Poole-based Puriflo, a 2.2kW Landia POP-1 150rpm mixer is successfully preventing sedimentation in a balance tank.

Designed with a large, swept-back propeller, the gentle action of the POP-1 avoids floc shear.

Odours are eliminated, whilst there is also the benefit of considerable energy savings.

Ron Lunney, Technical Director at Puriflo, a division of Robin Hawkins Engineering, commented: "This is just the latest of many successful installations where we have used Landia mixers.

They are very reliable indeed, and we always get very good, co-operative service".
