Recognition for Loughborough University engineer

Dr Zoltan Nagy from the Loughborough University Department of Chemical Engineering has been presented with an ExxonMobil 'Excellence in Teaching Award'

The awards have been established in association with the Royal Academy of Engineering to identify and reward centres of Excellence in Engineering Teaching in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

To apply for an award candidates need to have shown a commitment to teaching, professional activities, establishing industrial-academic links and promoting engineering as a rewarding and creative career.

The university department for each award winner receives GBP10,000.

Speaking about the award, Dr Nagy said: "The award motivates me even further to combine high quality research with devoted education.

I strongly believe that in our role as lecturers we all possess a real power, which can allow us to have a significant positive impact on our society".

Dr Keith Guy FGCI FREng added: "The ExxonMobil Excellence in Teaching Awards highlight the importance that must be placed on developing the engineering education curriculum to meet the needs of industry in the 21st century and to create the enabling pedagogy".

Professor Richard Wakeman, Head of the Loughborough University Department of Chemical Engineering, said: "We are incredibly proud of Dr Nagy's achievement - his award will benefit many students in the Department".
