The Larox peristaltic pump (LPP) can reliably handle highly corrosive sulphuric acid, and even provides flexible flow control when the supply tank is on a higher level than the discharge head.

Since the installation of a Larox peristaltic pump in early 2004 at Kemira Growhow Plant in Finland, it has been pumping sulphuric acid to a thickener in which the sulphuric acid reacts as a flocculant.

Equipped with in-line pipe connections and a detector for early hose leak warning, the LPP is working as the main pump; a standby pump is reserved for maintenance.

Hose changes are carried out according to a preventive maintenance schedule.

A patented adjustment mechanism that senses hose wear when compression is readjusted helps maximize hose lifetime and minimize the risk of over-compression.

The directly based adjustment measures compression force making readjustment accurate and fast.

Reliable, tight connection flanges at both ends of the hose enable secure and fast assembly.

The sulphuric acid concentration ranges from 20 to 30% at ambient temperatures with slurry specified gravity (SG) of 1.3.

The flow rate varies from 0.2 to 0.5 m3/h and the maximum speed is 35 rpm.

The flow-rate is controlled by an inverter; the average flow being 9 l/min.

A PID control loop with fixed set point and process feedback from a Krohne Coriolis mass flow meter controls the pump.

The PID controller gives a control signal of 4 - 20 mA to the inverter, which regulates the speed and flow of the pump.

Made of the most durable and resistant materials, the robust Larox LPP provides a safe and reliable liquid transfer even when handling the most aggressive media.

The innovative Larox pumps set the industry standard for peristaltic pump technology.

Designed for heavy industrial duties, the LPP pump is ideal for abrasive, corrosive, viscous or crystallizing media.

Compared to conventional peristaltic pumps, the LPP pumps double the flow per hose compression.

Unique design: One compression is all you need.

A single, bearing-mounted roller presses against the hose only once per the 360 degree operating cycle, producing the maximum flow per revolution.

The Operating principle of a peristaltic pump The operating principle of the LPP pump is based on the peristaltic effect.

As the cylindrical rotor rotates along the hose, the process medium gets pushed forward through the hose.

At the same time, the hose behind the compression point reverts to its original circular shape creating a suction effect at the pump inlet port.

As a result, the hose bore gets filled with the medium.

No backward flow can occur as the hose is squeezed tight by the roller.

Headquartered in Lappeenranta, Finland, Larox Flowsys Oy is the preferred supplier of cutting-edge flow control technology.

Our product range includes high-performance pinch valves and innovative peristaltic pumps.

We focus on abrasive, corrosive and other demanding shut-off, control and pumping applications serving a wide range of process industries worldwide.
