Manufacturers learn the meaning of 'Lean'
Top manufacturers have given 'lean' techniques the credit for boosting their productivity - but what does lean actually mean? A two-day North West masterclass later this month will provide the answer
Lifting the veil on 'going lean'
A two-day masterclass in Manchester next month will lift the veil on the mysteries of going lean, which top manufacturers confirm is a proven diet for success
The day-long session will demonstrate how training and education can empower individuals to work together as teams not just to do a better job but to play a vital role in business development.
"Team working alone is not enough," said Julie Madigan, chief executive of the Manufacturing Institute: "Getting people to work together is only effective if they are fully aware of the ultimate goals of the company and the part each of them must play to achieve this - from the newest apprentice to the managing director".
Leading North West manufacturers will show by example - through case studies and personal presentations - how to train staff to look beyond their individual jobs to see the bigger picture.
Among those taking part are Johnson Matthey, Ritherdon and BakeMark UK.
The event is aimed at managers within a manufacturing environment and there will be a forum at the end of the day where delegates can raise issues and questions.
As a Regional Centre for Manufacturing Excellence, The Manufacturing Institute can offer funding to North West manufacturers attending the Masterclass.
