Magna Projects and Instruments has introduced a high-speed H-option Rheometer to allow piston speeds up to 1,500 mm/minute, for flow testing molten plastics, foods, ceramic pastes and pharmaceuticals

Magna Projects and Instruments Ltd has extended the range of their popular MiniCER benchtop capillary extrusion Rheometer range by introducing the high-speed H-option to allow piston speeds up to 1,500 mm/minute The new H-option allows pressures up to 100 MPa (approx 15,000 psi) to be attained at temperatures up to 400 degrees C

These powerful and compact instruments, for testing under typical process conditions the flow properties of materials such as molten plastics, foods, ceramic pastes, pharmaceuticals, are fully computer controlled using the Magna RheoTenax software suite, and allow testing to a standard template or full manual control.

All raw data are retained, and the package allows analysis of the flow data for power-law fluids, Herschel-Bulkley and Bingham fluids (both with yield stresses present), wall slip and others.

Additionally, RheoTenax has four analytical procedures for determining extensional viscosity, an extremely important parameter for many production processes.

MiniCER capillary rheometers are available in single- and twin-bore configurations, with barrels in nitrided tool steel, stainless steel, or in materials of choice.

Accessories are available for the determination of the pressure coefficient of viscosity, die swell, shear heating, and others.

A wide range of capillary dies is available for Magna and other capillary extrusion rheometers, again in a choice of materials.

The MiniCER complements other Magna instruments, which include the Eta 2100 and BFR 2100 floor-standing capillary extrusion Rheometers, the NPLER extensional Rheometer, the TTPT Tattersall two-point tester for the workability of fresh concretes and cements, the IMAS in-line rheological analysis system for injection moulding machines, and the Mantracourt range of high-speed, low-noise digital signal conditioning equipment for process monitoring and control.
