Dr Charles (Chuck) Rohn has joined the Malvern Instruments rheology products team in the US.

As an applications consultant, Chuck brings a wealth of experience and expertise in rheological measurement.

Since the Malvern acquisition of Bohlin Instruments in November 2003, the company's portfolio has included rheological property measurement, adding to its world-renowned range of particle characterisation systems.

Chuck's appointment reflects the Malvern commitment to providing excellent technical and applications support for all its customers in this increasingly important area of material characterisation.

Chuck Rohn has a distinguished and extensive background in rheological measurement, having held senior positions at both Bohlin Instruments and Rheometrics, as well as running international consulting firm Rohn and Associates.

He has a substantial body of published research in the fields of rheology, dynamic mechanical analysis and thermal analysis.

Author of the book 'Analytical Polymer Rheology', Chuck's particular area of research is the relationship between the structure and processing properties of plastics and coatings.

For several years he taught in the area of plastics technology and currently delivers courses in applied rheology at Pittcon, Kent State and MIT.

He has recently been made a fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers in recognition of his contributions in this field.
