Matrikon announced that it will be hosting their 2005 Alarm Management Workshop for the Power Industry on February 8 and 9, 2005 in St Louis, Missouri

The purpose of the 2005 Alarm Management Workshop event is to help the power and utilities industry understand how plant control systems can be optimised and to prepare for upcoming standards governing health, safety and the environment.

In addition, a focus on process optimisation and efficiency is presented.

"These workshops have been well received in the past due mainly to the hands-on computer aspect," says event coordinator Kelly Service of Matrikon.

"This year is particularly exciting because we have been able to expand the event to include an in-depth case-study of AmerenUE, one of the nation's largest investor-owned electric and gas utilities company.

Attendees will get a first hand look at how companies have configured their controllers to optimise operations and maintain compliancy." Scheduled sessions during the two-day event include.

* Case study of AmerenUE, one of the nation's largest, investor owned power companies.

* Understanding and building Alarm Management Philosophy Documents.

* Best Practice Alarm Management Strategies.

* Standards Legislation: Prepare for new safety, procedure and insurance regulations (ISA, EEMUA, OSHA, ISO, Responsible Care).

* Project Management and Execution.

* Analysis Techniques: Eliminate up to 75% of control system alarms through bad actor and alarm flood analysis to reveal true critical alarms.

* Optimise Alarms: Techniques to improve safety, meet production demands and reduce trips.

* Rationalisation and Alarm Objective Analysis.
