Online centres for manufacturing excellence
The EU Sim-Serv and Max-Serv initiatives report excellent progress with their first twelve industrial cases: more technology suppliers are now being sought in order to meet the strong industry uptake
The Max-Serv interactive benchmarking assessment is open to all European process manufacturers and is translated into all major European languages, so there are no communication barriers.
The Max-Serv assessment is based on the results of a major benchmarking investigation, involving over 3,500 manufacturers from many world regions.
This database has already revealed that the performance of European process manufacturers is only average and that there is a considerable distance to go, in order to compete with the best manufacturers in the world.
In the event that this online gap analysis indicates gaps in performance, then more detailed evaluations may subsequently be carried out, interactively online.
Beyond the initial assessment, there are two further levels of assessment which ultimately provide a fully detailed benchmark evaluation of over 100 manufacturing parameters and provision of specialist, practical help in closing off the performance gap to achieve world class.
The MAX-SERV initiative confirms the EU commitment to establishing, easy-to-use, on-line support facilities for European manufacturers and it sits alongside the recently announced SIM-SERV (www.sim-serv.com), which provides e-based supply of simulation capability to manufacturers.
