Major order for Series 1000 Web Cleaning System

A Meech International product story

Following extensive trials, a major order for the Meech Series 1000 Web Cleaner has been shown to improve the print quality on recycled paper at a plant in Australia

A major Australian producer of recycled paper and associated products has recently invested in a Meech web cleaning system, to be installed on a printing press.

"We are very pleased with this order as the application is particularly challenging" explains Alan Chadwick, International Product Manager for the Meech Surface Cleaning Division: "Due to the fact that recycled paper has a much shorter fibre length than normal paper, the fibres 'break out' more easily as the paper passes over the press rollers.

This results in contamination of the web surface and poor print quailty.

Our system worked well throughout the trials and has both improved the print quality on the press and increased productivity by reducing the downtime needed for cleaning".

Combining static eliminators, brushes and a high power vacuum dust collection system, the Series 1000 System ensures not only that dust contamination is eliminated but also that the risk of further dust attraction is minimised.

Meech static eliminator bars cause the electrostatic charge binding the dust particles to the web to be broken down and the brushes destroy the boundary layer on the moving web allowing efficient removal of contamination.

The Series 1000 has been designed with a unique, highly efficient vacuum control plate that gives complete coverage of the material surface.

Flexible ducting then carries the contaminants to the collection system, where they are collected in a filter bag.

Two versions of the system are available.

The 'T' section version is suitable for most applications, whereas the 'I' section is for installations where headspace is particularly limited.

Engineers at Meech will advise all users on the most suitable position for the cleaning heads and individual mounting brackets will be supplied.
