BP selects performance monitoring solution
BP has awarded a contract to Emerson Process Management for use of its e-fficiency equipment performance monitoring solution at the Coryton Refinery in the UK.
Process plant performance directly to web browsers
e-fficiency is a proven Internet-based service that delivers information on the performance of plant equipment directly to a web browser for easy and secure access by process manufacturing customers.
The solution will be implemented using the Emerson real-time on-line optimisation system, RTO+.
In addition the e-fficiency web-based equipment performance monitoring service, will be used to analyse the underlying performance of boilers and steam turbines to support operational decision-making.
"BP is pleased to place this contract with Emerson, whose track record and abilities are evident from previous projects on the Grangemouth site.
Again we have selected Emerson because of their value proposition that provides a solution that is the most complete and cost-effective to meet our needs", said Gordon Grant, BP Availability Manager.
"We know this project will enable us to become more efficient and responsive, and will play a key role in helping us reduce our annual energy bill by approximately 3%".
This project builds on the success experienced on this site where RTO+ has been deployed to provide an online, real-time closed-loop optimiser on the G4 and KG Olefins parts of the site.
"A very productive partnership has been formed between BP and Emerson to deliver improved operating results," said Craig Llewellyn, President of Emerson Process Management Asset Optimisation division.
"Through past successful projects, BP knows they can rely on us to help them with this critical utilities optimisation system." Emerson Asset Optimisation combines services and technologies to improve availability and performance of production assets.
It takes advantage of the PlantWeb digital plant architecture to automate the flow of information on asset reliability and performance to the people who run the business.
