Moody Service has launched a new technique which allows the condition of a mixproof valve seal to be assessed without needing to remove it from the process equipment The technique ensures minimal downtime and can be carried out during production with no impact on product quality

Phil Jones, Service Manager at Moody Service comments: "Mixproof valve technology has greatly improved process automation but if these valves are not correctly maintained and cleaned they are a haven for microbial activity which can seriously affect product quality.

"We are offering a unique method of checking the seal and mixproof cavity to ensure the discharge port is free from obstruction, which eliminates the risk of cross contamination.

This method coupled with regular inspections allows us to accurately predict seal replacement intervals without needing to remove the valve to inspect the components.

"A seal kit for a mixproof valve can be as much as 15% of the complete valve cost so it makes sense to maximise its working life before replacing it".

Moody Service provides a complete range of service agreements from basic mechanical service to specialist planned maintenance programmes for plant and equipment.

It also offers service agreements for homogenisers, fillers, pasteurisers and heat exchangers.

All agreements are supported by an emergency call out and rapid breakdown response.
