Mercia Systems Ltd has launched a robot spray gun cap cleaner designed to further improve the efficiency of robotic spray systems.

This special cleaning machine is designed for spray gun air caps fitted to painting robots in the automotive industry and plastics industry, in fact, anywhere that paint robots are used.

Today most spraying robot users stop production to allow a technician to go into the spray booth to manually clean the air cap, this causes regular lost production and introduces a source of contamination.

A major benefit of the "MSL" Robot Air Cap Cleaner is that operators need not stop the paint line and enter the spray booth to clean the cap on a regular basis therefore reducing production losses and contamination.

By using the new "MSL" cap cleaner, the cleaning process of the air cap can be a part of the programmed sequence.

When it is time to clean the air cap, the robot automatically docks the gun into the cap cleaner where a ring of nozzles clean the air cap with solvent under pressure, after which the nozzle ring dries the cap with compressed air.

The cleaning sequence is controlled from the robot and can take as little as 10 seconds and can be automatically scheduled as required.

The unit can also be used to clean the spray gun air cap after an automatic colour change.

The "MSL" spray cap cleaner, fabricated from stainless steel, is suitable for spray guns that use water borne or solvent borne paints.

The multi nozzle cleaning ring allows for both solvent cleaning and air drying of the air cap.

The simple, clean and rugged design is ideally suited to the arduous environment of the paint shop.

The MSL team have unrivalled experience and expertise in the field of Robotic Painting and Paint Application.

"We are delighted to add this robotic spray gun cleaner to our expanding range" says Chris Lines, Managing Director of MSL.

"It is completely in line with our goals at MSL of offering our customers production equipment that will deliver the very highest performance available in the market today".
