However, not everybody requires the very high sensitivity required by the manufacturers of electronic chips, or required in nuclear power station applications, which are the primary markets for the 811.
To help make this technology more available to a larger audience, Metrohm now release a baby brother version to the 811, the Metrohm 821 Compact On-line IC.
This offers cheap affordable on-line Ion Chromatography as never seen before.
The 821 does not have the sensitivity of its older brother.
Not everybody needs sensitivity.
Most need affordability.
The 821 costs less than half the price of its competitors to purchase and to maintain.
This makes the technology available to new customers/markets, who have never previously considered the technique before.
The 821 can make sequential determination of anions or cations from up to 10 different sample flows.
It contains an Industrial PC, interruption-free power supply with approximately 45-minute autonomy, a modem for remote maintenance, software with control cards for measurement results, calibrations and performance checks, as well as for controlling the analysis and the 10-channel sampling valve.
The instrument is supplied with a removable trolley: it can also be prepared for wall mounting.
It can provide alarm signals to warn central control that the process has strayed outside programmed parameters.
