Tighter process control in acid pickling baths
Online ion chromatography from Metrohm has enabled tighter process control of acid pickling baths, as the final cleaning stage prior to metal plating
Halide analysis is commonly performed colorimetrically or by titration.
However this involves the addition of hazardous hydrazinium compounds to the samples and the methods used are often fraught with interferences if samples contain a lot of ionic compounds.
Ion Chromatography (IC) has rarely been used for the post-combustion analysis of halides and other anions due to the high cost of instrumentation compared to traditional methods.
The introduction of the Metrohm range of Compact Ion Chromatography systems, now allows IC analysis to be performed at the prices approaching that of titration and other classical wet chemistry techniques.
Metrohm Application Notes N-4, S1-19 and S-78 describe the analysis of halides and organic acids using both suppressed and unsuppressed IC methods. Request a free brochure from Metrohm UK ...
