pH measurement in electroplating baths
or pigments
pH measurement in electroplating baths or in pigments/dyes is not easy due the difficult sample matrix: there are components in the bath which can contaminate the electrolyte solution in the electrode

Tighter process control in acid pickling baths
Online ion chromatography from Metrohm has enabled tighter process control of acid pickling baths, as the final cleaning stage prior to metal plating
There are components in an electroplating bath (strong acids and metal ions) which can contaminate the electrolyte solution within the electrode.
This is why a pH electrode with bridge electrolyte and a large electrolyte flow should be chosen.
When measuring in pigment samples they can easily block the diaphragm of the electrode.
Here you need a robust diaphragm such as a ground joint diaphragm, which can cope with such conditions.
For easy-going measurements, your best system choice is the Metrohm 744 pH Meter and the ideal electrode is the Metrosensor Unitrode.
If your sample contains gases - such as ammonia and the electrolyte solution is contaminated with the sample, we recommend the Metrohm 744 pH meter together with the Metrosensor Profitrode, a combined pH electrode with double junction reference part.
If you notice precipitation in the diaphragm - use the Metrohm 744 pH Meter together with the Metrosensor Profitrode, a combined pH electrode with ground-joint diaphragm and bridge electrolyte. Request a free brochure from Metrohm UK ...
When it comes to plant measurements in electroplating baths or dyestuffs, the Metrohm 704 pH Meter with the Metrosensor Unitrode will do the job perfectly!.
