Online ion chromatography
The Metrohm 811 Online IC is designed to provide optimum IC analysis in accordance with industry standards
The Metrohm 811 Online IC is designed to provide optimum IC analysis in accordance with industry standards.
This means ease of operation, perfect reliability even in rough environments, minimum external supply requirements, high data security and, of course, precise and reproducible results.
More than a decade ago Metrohm started to develop instruments for plants that rely on the results of online titration to control their production processes.
Requirements like uninterrupted power supply and the separation of electronic, mechanical, and wet-chemistry parts of the instrument were implemented.
When Metrohm started to build online IC systems it was able to profit from the wealth of experience already gained from the online titration system.
Even though the 811 Online IC was presented for the first time at Pittcon 2001, it is an instrument that benefits from Metrohm's experience in online analysis.
The 811 Online IC can be custom-tailored to any IC application.
The standard version is a one-channel instrument that allows analysis of either cations or anions.
The dual-channel version is designed to analyse cations and anions simultaneously.
Every line is equipped with a 10-port manifold valve.
This valve can be set up to take samples out of 10 permanently purged lines.
For every single sample stream a freely defined number of ions can be analysed and monitored.
Special control cards show at a glance whether the values are inside the required concentration ranges.
The IC system itself consists of the standard components that have been used for many years in the modular Metrohm IC systems.
The conductivity detector is temperature-stabilised to better than 0.01 C and located in a Faraday cage.
Pre-amplification occurs inside the detector block.
As a result, signal noise is minimal while sensitivity is very high.
These features are especially beneficial when trace amounts of anions or cations have to be analysed.
The whole system is designed to require very little maintenance.
The costs of ownership are low due to the practically unlimited lifetime of the suppressor, the relatively cheap eluents, the long lifetime of the columns and the long service intervals for the pumps.
The 811 Online IC brings online analysis to a new level of performance.
It defines new standards concerning price-performance ratio, simplicity of use, reliability and quality of the analytical results.
