Free seminar: On-line or At-line
chemical analysis

Do you need to monitor your process in real time? If so Metrohm and Applikon can offer on-line and at-line analysis for your process plant with minimum fuss

No need for complicated sample preparation or waiting for results from your laboratory These one day technical seminars run from 1000 to 1430, with a complimentary lunch and refreshments, will be held at the following three locations

Darlington Football Ground on 2nd April.

Newport Holiday Inn on 23rd April.

Duxford Air Museum on 3rd June.

For further information or reservation of your complimentary place, please contact Gemma Clocherty at Metrohm UK.

Overview of Measurement systems.

At-line Measurements.

* Analytical system in production area * Low to mid measuring frequency (1-20 samples/d) * User delivers samples to analytical system * Samples are from different places * Several parameters can be measured * User starts analysis manually * User releases results or transfer of data to PCS * Low cost of installation Inline Measurements * Measurement inside sample stream * High measuring frequency (continuous) * Direct response from the process * Immediate feedback to process (through PCS) * Only one sampling point / one parameter * Changing process conditions could influence the measurement (temperature, pressure, flow speed, density, viscosity, particles, ...) * No reagents needed, but calibration is difficult * Moderate cost of installation * Only few sensors are available: pH, Redox, conductivity.

On-line Measurements.

* Applikon l * Continuous sampling via bypass pipeline * High measuring frequency (1-10/h) * Fast and without manual sampling * Immediate feedback to process control system (PCS) * Often 1 to 3 sampling points * Often 1 to 3 parameters * High cost of installation * Calibration is difficult * Automatic sample pre-conditioning is very important.

These systems release your operators and laboratory analysts, allowing these people to focus on more important tasks.

There are a range of applications available including potentiometric titration, colorimetric titration, Karl Fischer analysis (moisture content), ion chromatography and voltammetry.

These methods are based on standard laboratory methods.
