PSA, the French car manufacturer, has decided to extend its current use of five workstation licenses for MMASoft in the foundry casting process

After 15 months of trials of MMASoft within the PSA concern, the French car manufacturer decided to extend its current use of five workstation licenses to two perpetual MMASoft cluster licenses.

The installation will be done on two Intel based 32 processor Fujitsu-Siemens Linux clusters with Gbit networking supported by Scali Interconnect communication software.

"This decision demonstrates the strongly grown confidence of PSA in MMA products and services", Dr Jörg C.

Sturm, Executive Manager of MMA, states.

"The successful usage of casting process simulation by the casting engineering team in Belchamps resulted in a steeply growing demand in MMASoft results at all PSA foundries, which can only be satisfied by the performance increase as provided through the cluster licenses." PSA has installed MMASoft modules for all main processes in use, i.e die casting, permanent mould, low-pressure for non-ferrous and sand casting for cast iron applications.

Additionally, MMAstress will be used on the two cluster machines looking into casting stresses and distortions.

MMASoft cluster will be fully integrated into the PSA IT environment including remote license management and job queuing.

For this purpose, MMA extended its communication protocol to allow to control the software usage by open PBS respectively LSF compliant scripts.
