Small volume vessel with magnetically driven mixer

A Millipore product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Sep 12, 2005

A totally aseptic solution to mixing volumes down to 2L, whilst at the same time facilitating cleaning in place and eliminating the need to weld any component parts within the vessel bottom dished end

NovAseptic have launched a single piece small volume vessel dished end with an integral magnetically driven mixer and outlet valve.

With this NovAseptic has created a totally aseptic solution to mix volumes as small as 2 litres, whilst at the same time facilitating cleaning in place and eliminating the need to weld any component parts within the vessel bottom dished end.

Designing a production vessel for the mixing of small volume, high value liquid drug formulations is a challenging project for most pharmaceutical manufacturers and engineering design companies.

Creating a vessel dished end with sufficient material space to incorporate the welded-in components such as a mixer tank plate and outlet valve body, usually means that the minimum vessel capacity starts somewhere in excess of 10 litres.

In the past, product wastage has been an unwanted, but unavoidable consequence of the process.

That is until now! This totally unique single piece dished end (incorporating a magnetically driven mixer and outlet valve) is manufactured from a single piece of material (stainless steel, Hastelloy or other materials upon request) and is completely drainable! Product wastage is completely eliminated! The complete unit has a diameter of an amazing 160mm, making the vessel completely portable.

The complete dished end is supplied along with the mixer and valve top-works direct to the vessel manufacturer for a swift delivery execution.

All the standard NovAseptic mixer and valve options are available as part of the assembly.

NovAseptic claim that further savings are realised by eliminating the need to weld, passivate and electro-polish! The unit is provided with a comprehensive range of documentation including Material Certificates for all product contact parts and Quality Control Release Documents.

NovAseptic has produced a special test unit to enable their pharmaceutical manufacturing customers to perform pre-validation studies on actual product formulations on site.

In other words, NovAseptic claim that you can optimise your vessel design, and guarantee that the drug manufacturing specifications are achievable - even before an order is placed.
