A new high-sensitivity seismic accelerometer

Monitran, a world leader in the design and manufacture of vibration sensors, has launched a high-sensitivity, low-frequency seismic accelerometer, that can measure the earth move

The MTN/1450 serves three key markets: geological surveying, structural engineering and any other industry where even the slightest vibrations may affect results (for example, semiconductor manufacture).

The sensitivity of the MTN/1450 is 10V/g +/-10% and it operates over the frequency range 50mHz to 500Hz (3 - 30,000 cycles per minute).

It features low-pass filtering, which eliminates high-frequency noise, and is supplied with a low-noise power unit and amplifier with user-selectable gains of 1, 10 and 100.

Neill Ovenden, Monitran Sales and Marketing Director, comments: "Employing the MTN/1450, users can measure and monitor low amplitude and low frequency vibrations that would otherwise not be detectable using traditional industrial accelerometers.

Also, our recently announced VI-sage hardware and web-based product means near real-time vibration levels can be made available, on the web, for academic research or for business purposes".

The sensor operates over the temperature range -10 to 65C and is hermetically sealed in a cylindrical stainless steel enclosure (6cm diameter by 7.2cm high overall) with 16mm mounting hole.
