Moeller Electric ends contactor redundancy!
The new Contactor Monitoring Device (CMD) from Moeller Electric means the expense of using duplicate redundant contactors in motor starters with safety functions can be entirely eliminated
New HMI with built-in Moeller PLC
Versatility, easy programming and excellent connectivity are among the key benefits of the Moeller Electric new easyHMI MFD4, a 5.7" multifunction display unit with built-in PLC functionality
The new contactors feature particularly narrow widths, only 55mm for 65A versions, which saves valuable space in the control panel, while use of the mechanical interlock in reversing and star-delta combinations means no additional space requirements.
This patented and smart solution consists of a small plastic ball that is simply inserted in the specially designed recess on the side of both contactors, where it can reliably prevent simultaneous switching.
As one contactor moves into its "on" position it displaces the ball towards, and slightly into, the other contactor creating a physical barrier preventing it from switching - it really is that simple.
A lateral clearance between the contactors is not required, and the contactors can be mounted and wired directly next to each other.
Generally, DC contactors have a deeper construction than AC versions.
However, the dimensions of xStart DC and AC versions are identical up to 150A, thanks to an electronic magnet system.
Both versions can now be positioned on mounting rails and mounting plates, eliminating the need for different panel designs and layouts for different control voltages.
The space saving is achieved not just by the reduced component dimensions, but also due to lower heat dissipation that, particularly with DC contactors, helps keep the panel or enclosure size down.
The DC contactors, from 17 up to 65A, have a sealing power of only 0.5W and even those at 150A only use 2W.
The contactors feature box terminals with two terminal spaces, allowing differing cable cross-sections to be terminated securely and coil connections are easily accessible, being located at the front.
What is more, all DC contactors up to 150A include a suppressor circuit.
The complete xStart range includes DILA contactor relays, DILM contactors, PKZM motor-protective circuit-breakers and MSC motor-starters, which use the unique tool-less plug connection technology.
The ZB range of overload relays have been extended accordingly to match the four frame sizes of contactors, with a setting range of 0.1A to 142A.
