Designed for three-phase applications with motors rated up to 15kW, the latest Moeller Electric DS4 range of soft starters combines the economy of two-phase control with the smoothness of acceleration normally only achieved by larger and more expensive models that use three-phase control Despite their exceptional performance, however, DS4 soft starters are as easy to fit and wire as ordinary contactors

Versatility, easy programming and excellent connectivity are among the key benefits of the Moeller Electric new easyHMI MFD4, a 5.7" multifunction display unit with built-in PLC functionality
These innovative products feature a straight-through design, with power terminals at the top and motor terminals at the bottom.
They use standard box terminals for fast convenient wiring, and are suitable for DIN rail or base-plate mounting.
Based upon a 45mm format they can be mounted side-by-side without gaps, ensuring that they occupy a minimum of costly panel space.
Setting up is straightforward with just three potentiometers to adjust, and LED indicators to provide instant status confirmation.
To simplify ordering and stocking, DS4 soft starters feature the Moeller Electric selective multi-voltage input circuitry, allowing them to be used with both AC and DC control supplies without the need for adjustment.
With DC supplies, the input threshold is 18V but, when an AC supply is connected, the threshold is automatically raised to 65V to eliminate nuisance switching caused by the transients which are often present in AC systems.
All DS4 soft starters have internal heatsinks, which not only simplifies mounting, but also ensures that there are no exposed hot parts within the control panel.
Depending on model, they are either rated to carry the full motor current indefinitely, or they include an internal bypass.
External bypass contactors which add cost and complexity are not, therefore, required.
