A modular design with parallel connection of five units, and high specifications make the new SN3 switch-mode power supplies versatile, convenient and cost-effective for automation applications

A modular design which allows parallel connection of up to five units, an optional monitoring module which can easily be retrofitted, and a short-term overload capacity of at least 50% make the Moeller Electric new SN3 switch-mode power supplies a versatile, convenient and cost-effective choice for automation applications of all types The high-efficiency SN3 power supplies provide nominal 24V DC outputs, and are available in versions rated 5A, 10A and 20A for continuous operation at ambient temperatures up to 60C

In applications where the maximum temperature will not exceed 40C, however, these ratings are increased to 7A, 15A and 22A respectively.

In addition, all types can supply at least 150% of their rated output current for short periods, eliminating the need to specify larger power supplies simply to cater for inrush currents.

Power supplies in the SN3 range are available in versions with fixed 24V DC outputs, or outputs which are adjustable by the user over the range 22V to 28V DC, making it easy, for example, to compensate for voltage drops in cables.

Fixed-voltage versions are suitable for operation from 110/230V AC inputs, while adjustable voltage versions can also be used with DC inputs in the same range.

To provide even greater versatility, the adjustable-output models in the range can be fitted with a monitoring module which provides separate volt-free contacts to indicate input healthy and output healthy.

The module also provides a remote switching facility which allows an external contact to be used to turn the supply on and off.

LED indicators on the monitoring module provide additional local confirmation of the supply input and output status, as well as the status of the remote switching input.

Moeller Electric SN3 power supplies have been designed to allow parallel operation of units with the same size without the need for derating.

This makes it easy to meet the power requirements of even the largest automation systems, and also to configure high-security redundant power supply systems for use with critical loads.

With integral automatic overload and short-circuit protection, SN3 power supplies feature compact construction and are easily mounted by clipping them directly on to standard DIN rail.

They conform with relevant European and UL requirements, and carry the CE marking.
