Mogensen Raw Materials Handling has recently supplied a special high-temperature vibratory screen for the processing of hot, -200mm coal-fired boiler economiser ash at an Irish power station

This unit joins three other identical screens previously supplied by Mogensen All four were purchased and installed by Clyde Bergemann Materials Handling of Doncaster as part of a major turnkey project

To ensure dust containment all four screens are fully enclosed using steel covers, and are connected to adjacent equipment by means of high-temperature, flexible couplings also supplied by Mogensen.

Each screen is designed to handle up to 5tph of ash at 450C and provide a "policing" service by removing all material coarser than 40mm from the ash stream in order to protect the pneumatic conveying system downstream.

This oversize material consists of lumps of consolidated ash and boiler tube corrosion shields, and is led via chute-work direct to trash skips.

The finer ash falls into a surge hopper, which serves two pneumatic conveying lines, which in turn transport it for further processing on site.

The C1016 screen is driven by a single Invicta rotary electric vibrator Type BLz 30-23/6 rated at 900 watts/2300kg centrifugal force output.
