MCM presented its new range of ATEX certified ultra fast responding portable and online hygrometers at ACHEMA

MCM, Moisture Control and Measurement emphasised its new range of ATEX certified ultra fast responding portable and online hygrometers at the ACHEMA Exhibition this year This latest development has increased the scope of applications that can be addressed and allows MCM equipment to be used in Zone O refinery and Petrochemical applications as well as its traditional markets of process plants, utilities, semiconductor and air separation plants

The MCM technology employs three unique features to ensure quick, stable and reliable data is collected every time, irrespective of location or ambient conditions.

The first is the use of the patented ultra thin silicon on a chip moisture sensor which has an unrivalled speed of response.

Typical response time from ambient wet to less than 1 ppm is within 2 minutes to a stable reading, making the MCM the fastest responding analyser on the market today! The second unique feature is that the MCM sensor utilises temperature control, operating at 45C, to ensure measurement stability when measuring in variable sample temperatures.

By comparison, non temperature controlled sensors give different readings at different temperatures, typically showing a 4% per degree temperature coefficient.

This can translate into large bias errors when measuring in extreme climates where the operating temperature can be very different from the temperature of calibration.

This measurement error is entirely eliminated with temperature control and gives the operator the added benefit of traceable data that can be related back to the original calibration, something not available when using non temperature controlled instrumentation.

Thirdly, the sensor can be rapidly heated to eliminate any hysteresis effects, reduce contamination effects and aid dry down following a wet excursion.

This dramatically improves responsiveness and repeatability, another cornerstone of reliable measurement.

The combination of fast response, stable performance and low drift results in fast and accurate data collection which helps productivity and quality control.

The latest ATEX range includes the Microview ATEX portable hygrometer which can record 100 measurements in its on board data logger and can display results in a graphical form.

The Microview Compact transmitter, a self controlling plant monitor, is designed to expand up into a self zeroing system, if required, without the need for additional external communications, a design which reduces installation costs significantly.

Both instruments are ideal for use in hazardous areas and will be fully working during the exhibition.

MCM will be challenging visitors to try and win an MCM hygrometer everyday during ACHEMA.

Further details can be found on the website.

MCM is an established UK supplier, have been providing fast responding moisture measuring instrumentation and calibration services since their foundation in 1968.
