Heavyweight players in the bulk
reduction of waste
The Mono range of Munchers, heavyweight players in the bulk reduction of biodegradeable waste, are thoroughly proven on applications where food and organic waste matter must be reduced and macerated
With the tide of regulations covering the disposal of food-related waste products, and the stringent penalties they carry, an increasing number of waste producers and commercial processors are turning their attention to the Mono range of Munchers - heavyweight players in the bulk reduction of biodegradeable waste Thoroughly proven on numerous applications where food and organic waste matter must be reduced and disposed of quickly and efficiently, the Mono range of Munchers provide a reliable method of macerating solids to a small, consistent particle size

New Mono coating provides answer to rotor abrasion
Mono Pumps, a leading manufacturer of pumps and pumping solutions, has launched Duracoat 3000 - a new surface coating offering increased wear resistance for rotors used in highly abrasive environments
Disposal and transport costs can therefore be reduced, and the resultant homogeneous product can improve the digestion for recycling and re-use as agricultural fertilizer.
Methane gas production as extra income/fuel is also increased.
The Muncher range can provide volume reductions of up to 70% on solid waste matter.

The Mono Series 'A' Muncher is a twin-shaft, low speed, high torque grinder.
Biodegradable waste is fed into the Muncher via a feed hopper to pass through a series of cutters, which revolve at differential speeds to pull apart, crop and shear any solids, such as bones, feathers, offal and vegetable waste.
Liquid passes through the cutter stacks, whilst the solids are trapped and macerated to a small, consistent particle size, to help comply with legislation and improve process efficiency.
The Muncher has an integral gearbox, which converts its relatively low motor power into high output torque to make the Muncher extremely powerful but also energy efficient.
The low revolving speed of the cutter shafts, typically 45 rpm, creates low cutter tip speeds and this dramatically reduces wear rates and noise levels compared to high speed macerators.
For heavy duty applications, the Mono Series F Muncher is capable of processing both wet and dry waste.
Increased installed power for this equipment ensures efficient and effective grinding for bulk reduction, materials reclamation and profit from waste.
The operating principle is based on independent drive shafts offering greater torque and variable fragment size determined by the cutter/spacer arrangement.
Dependent on the materials being processed, the Series F Muncher can handle capacities up to 10,000 kg/h.
The gearboxes and cutter chamber are independently mounted on a heavy fabricated steel structural base frame, creating both a more durable construction and making access to individual parts much easier for maintenance duties.
Throat sizes range from 600-1000mm with motor sizes of 7.5kW or 11kW.
The Series F Muncher has been used successfully for many years in grinding screenings from inlet flows at waste water treatment works.
A number of these works are now introducing organic waste to the digesters to increase gas production.
As well as increasing gas yield for combined heat and power, the need for costly disposal is eliminated.
Bulk material handling is expensive.
High volume/low density waste often results in needless expenditure on the storage, handling and transport of these materials, which in the future may no longer be economical.
The Series F Muncher enables waste to be efficiently reduced to granular or shredded matter with volume reductions of up to 70%, reducing these handling costs.
Particularly important when handling sensitive materials, such as pharmaceutical or cosmetic products, the Muncher reduces the risk of sensitive material falling into the wrong hands and is therefore the ideal choice for security destruction applications.
With the increase in the cost of raw material, reclamation of manufactured products is becoming increasingly popular and makes sound economic sense.
Items such as printed circuit boards can be passed through the Muncher, allowing the shredded fragments to be easily separated and processed for precious metal reclamation.
It can also be used in recycling fish waste to liquified protein source, and recycling agricultural, forestry and municipal garden waste for compost or organic fertilizers.
Units have also been installed for handling animal offal and related meat bi-products.
The Muncher range can be combined with Mono progressing cavity pumps to create a comprehensive and fully integrated waste processing system.
