New Mono coating provides answer to rotor abrasion
Mono Pumps, a leading manufacturer of pumps and pumping solutions, has launched Duracoat 3000 - a new surface coating offering increased wear resistance for rotors used in highly abrasive environments
The skid mounted calorifier packages will provide the domestic hot and cold fresh water for the crew on board.
Mono was able to provide a perfect solution for Rycroft who required pumps with a 6m head to draw water from a sump, up to their calorifier packages.
The Monobloc B range with its compact construction and maximum performance characteristics made it an ideal choice for this application: Rycroft, a frequent customer, was happy to return to Mono for help in supplying equipment for this contract.
The SB051 and SB031 pumps installed by Rycroft are just two of the 33 B range models available.
The twelve pumps on the Type 45 Destroyers will be operating at duty speeds up to 800 rpm and capacities up to 15m3/h.
The positive displacement action of the Mono pump has a suction lift capability of 8.5m, therefore deep sumps can easily be pumped without the use of submersible equipment.
Providing durable and reliable performance, the SB031 pumps incorporate the Mono Flexishaft driveshaft.
Wearing components are eliminated between the drive end and the pumping element, offering increased reliability and backed-up by a 5 year warranty.
The low running speeds of a Mono progressing cavity pump offer reduced wear for a longer working pump life, which extends the periods between routine maintenance.
The first two packages for the first vessel were delivered in April 2005, with the remaining packages being delivered to align with the BAE build progess.
The Type 45s are the new generation of anti warfare destroyers, and the first, HMS Daring, was launched on 1st February by the Duchess of Wessex.
