Food applications of Mono Pumps
Process efficiency, hygienic operation, product protection and a high level of performance - these are all characteristics which the food industry can get from Mono progressing cavity pumps
The diversity offered by Mono in the field of progressing cavity pumps enables food manufacturers to maintain critical process conditions on a wide range of applications, as the following examples show * The ACC Creamery in Llangadog, Carmarthenshire is one of the biggest creameries in the UK, and a Mono pump provided the perfect solution for handling hygiene sensitive materials, incorporating a wide range of features to minimise the possibility of contamination

New Mono coating provides answer to rotor abrasion
Mono Pumps, a leading manufacturer of pumps and pumping solutions, has launched Duracoat 3000 - a new surface coating offering increased wear resistance for rotors used in highly abrasive environments
The Co-operative Group required a pumping system for this state-of-the-art plant that could handle the delicate nature of the skimmed milk and prevent emulsification.
The progressing cavity pump incorporates a helical rotor that turns within a resilient stator, producing a gentle pumping action to transfer the skimmed milk at 7000 l/h to the production line.
The pump contact surfaces are manufactured from food approved materials, with polished internal stainless steel surfaces.

* Global food industry supplier CP Kelco replaced three pumps at its Knowsley plant after a trial demonstrated a significant reduction in maintenance costs.
CP Kelco was experiencing high rates of pin-joint and stator wear with progressing cavity pumps from another supplier.
It required a cost effective solution to the high maintenance costs on its busy thickeners and stabilisers production line at its plant in Merseyside.
Andrew Bailey, project engineer, commented, "The high maintenance and high cost of the previous equipment we had installed led us to look at an alternative supplier, and Mono provided the most cost-effective and efficient solution".
Incorporating the Mono Flexishaft drive system, with a reduced number of moving parts, eliminates the possibility of wear and does not incur the cost of maintenance associated with other forms of rotor/coupling drives.
* A Mono stainless steel Widethroat pump helped Nortech Foods in Hull achieve the critical flow required by its freezer plate system for the effective and efficient freezing of meat paste.
As the viscosity of the meat paste can vary quite dramatically from a water-like solution to a thick paste, Nortech required a pump which could maintain the required capacity irrespective of viscosity.
Incorporating an auger system to constantly feed the pumping element, the pump can easily handle the thick meat.
To ensure compliance with the stringent hygiene requirements at Nortech, the pump was supplied with a stainless steel body, shaft and rotor, and a nitrile rubber stator.
Its simple design, including a plug-in shaft, facilitates easy cleaning and maintenance resulting in reduced downtime and increased productivity.
Through constant awareness and appreciation of the requirements of the food processing industry, the extensive range of Mono progressing cavity pumps is able to meet the demands of a wide variety of applications.
Mono Pumps places emphasis on its ability of working with food manufacturers to adapt its pumps to their process requirements and to achieve effective operation with the additional benefits of low maintenance costs and after sales support to ensure maximum efficiency from its units.
Mono is a leading manufacturer of progressing cavity pumps, grinders, screens and packaged solutions for a wide variety of industry sectors.
With extensive knowledge, experience and a comprehensive network of authorised distributors and agents throughout the world, Mono is well positioned to service its customers, whatever the fluid handling requirements or location.
