With 10,000 possible combinations, the new, robust 'ShurLok' key storage device provides individuals with an ideal, secure place to store their keys, right next to the lock or door

With 10,000 possible combinations, the new, robust 'ShurLok' key storage device provides individuals with an ideal, secure place to store their keys, right next to a lock or door if required, eliminating the need to carry keys and preventing people from being locked out of their home or work area A novel key storage device has been launched that ensures people never lose their keys and can always gain access to an important work area, equipment storage compound or the home

The device offers users complete security, convenience and peace of mind, with one combination opening up the shackle which acts as a padlock and a different combination can be given to someone else who can then gain access to the key storage chamber.

The new 'ShurLok' device, available in the UK from Shurlok UK, is targeted at property management companies and estate agents, cleaning and maintenance staff, construction and building site workers, owners of heavy plant and machinery or forklift truck drivers.

In fact, anyone that uses keys will benefit from using the device.

The ShurLok innovative, clam-shell design enables the device to stand on its own or to be hung from a hook.

It has a durable, solid zinc alloy body, with rust-proof, chrome-plated brass dials for extra protection.

The shackle is made from hardened steel and all internal working parts are made from solid brass.

On the back of the device is a protective plastic cap and rubber bumper that protect the surface upon which the device is located.

Springs are made from stainless steel and the tension plate is constructed from brass.

A sliding key storage chamber at the bottom of the device enables users to store up to five or six keys in a safe, secure place, within the vicinity of the lock or door.

A mounting bracket is provided so that ShurLok can be positioned on almost any surface, such as a fence, gate or door knob.

A special cable pack is available for locking bicycles and a LeverGrip is available for mounting ShurLok on any type of door handle or lever.

The device is also very easy to use.

Even a child who can recognise numbers can use ShurLok, for example, to gain access to the home after school.

Users can set their own combination in seconds without the need for special tools or disassembly.

A small set screw on the side of the device allows users to change the combination for the shackle very quickly with just a simple turn.

A paper clip or coin can be used to turn the set screw.

Changing the shackle combination also automatically changes the combination for the sliding key storage chamber.

Once the combination has been re-set, the set screw can be turned back into place.

If security lights or outside lights fail, ShurLok can even be opened in the dark, by rolling the four combination dials down instead of up until they lock on the '0', then counting the clicks until the correct combination is found.

The device is also ideal for visually impaired people.

More than 1 million Shurlok devices have been sold in the US, the largest market being estate agents.

When a property is sold, it gets listed with 20 to 30 estate agents, who all have to get keys cut.

With ShurLok, they fix the device to the property being sold, so that all of the estate agents can gain access to the property.

The lock stays with the property and the keys are never forgotten or lost.

For customers who order more than 100 ShurLok devices, ShurLok UK also offers a custom printing service, whereby the customer brand or company name can be inscribed on the devices, the customer is then able to offer ShurLok as a free gift.

The additional cost for this service is around GBP1 per unit.

ShurLok comes with a one-year warranty and costs GBP14.95, and discount on volume sales.

Another version of Shurlok is available for GBP19.95, which has lettered buttons rather than numbered buttons for the combination, so users can spell a word rather than have to remember a number combination.

A demonstration of Shurlok can be viewed at on the website.
