Due to a problem with inaccurate results of lightweight components and difficulty in providing an audit trail, the site required a high precision system to count all their products accurately and quickly.
The equipment was needed for counting as well as weighing very small components.
As the components weigh 0.04g, Mettler Toledo suggested a combination of a platform scale, balance and software as the ideal solution.
Designed for precision the Viper MonoBloc offers the combination of ruggedness, operational ease and measurement accuracy.
The MonoBloc technology offers improved reliability and corner-load accuracy with long-term and temperature stability.
The unique MonoBloc cell maximises the company productivity and accuracy results and is available as a high precision weighing or counting scale in three platform sizes and five weighing ranges from 1.5 to 35kg.
The rugged die-cast aluminium housing is specifically designed for harsh industrial environments.
The data interface, built-in as standard, enables communication with a printer, a second scale, an auxiliary display or computer.
The modularity of the scale was one of the reasons Maxell Europe chose the Viper MonoBloc, as well as the ability to choose within a huge variety of product options and accessories.
"The counting facility offered by the scale is ideal for weighing our small components, says John Reece.
In addition the printing facility is used to record product information, weight and shift.
The data gathered is transferred to a spreadsheet where we use SPC, which is a customer requirement".
The data gathered by the scales is uploaded to their PCs via BalanceLink software.
This programme offers high performance data communication between a wide range of Mettler Toledo instruments and application programmes.
It captures information via a serial interface and sends it to another Windows application or file.
Its numerous features include data and time identification for each measurement result and compliance to GLP/GMP.
Data is transferred at a keystroke or selected time intervals preventing reading and keying errors.
In addition the programme works actively in the background and communicates with Mettler Toledo instruments via the serial interface.
Whether counting manually or automatically the ID7, with its counting software Count2000, always provides the correct data.
Maxell Europe has connected the ID7Count to their Viper MonoBloc ensuring easy integration in to their counting applications optimising production and logistical processes.
The data can be quickly and safely recorded using a bar code reader, which is ideal for their operations.
The installation has improved operations at the site as it has speeded up processes by using the memory capability of the ID7 for storing product descriptions and piece weight.
It has also increased accuracy and provided comprehensive management information on their manufactured components.
John Reece adds "the printing facility and data transfer will be very useful when we have fully integrated the system in to our processes. Request a free brochure from Mettler Toledo ...
The accurate weighing and counting results have ensured our operations run smoothly.".
