Moxa Wireless Device Server daily winner contest

The goal of this contest is to promote the new Moxa line of wireless device servers, which carry the well-known Moxa NPort brand name

The most exciting news is that one NPort W2150 (the 1-port wireless device server) will be given away each work day starting May 1.

As opposed to other contests of this nature, winning one of the new Moxa palm-sized wireless device servers does not depend on chance.

Contestants are required to submit a short essay that describes a novel application of wireless device servers, and winners are chosen based on the originality of the idea, and the clarity with which it is described.

Although anyone may enter the contest, winners will be restricted to applicants from industry who have a real need for using wireless device servers.

"The growing popularity of wireless LANs in industrial settings is due in part to the versatility they add to a wide range of applications.

Reducing the number of cables used helps reduce cost and removes the risk of devices getting disconnected when someone trips over a cable.

Wireless device servers are also being used to add mobility to industrial equipment that otherwise would be restricted to a small area," said Harry Liu, the Moxa Product Manager who will oversee judging of the entries.

"We felt that requiring applicants to submit a practical application of the product would be a good way to generate interest in the contest.

The Moxa wireless device server family includes three products: the 1-port NPort W2150, 2-port NPort W2250, and 4-port NPort W2004.

NPort W2150/2250 can connect any RS-232/422/485 serial device to a Wi-Fi 802.11b network and supports TCP Client, TCP Server, and UDP operation modes, with secure data access provided by standard WEP.

NPort W2004 also supports Wi-Fi 802.11g networks, transmits at up to 460.8 Kbps, and supports enhanced remote configuration via HTTPS and SSH.
